The Conference of Boston Teaching Hospitals (COBTH) is a coalition of fourteen Boston-area teaching hospitals. Despite today's highly competitive health care environment and the great diversity of these institutions, the COBTH member hospitals recognize the importance of collaborating in a number of important areas, including:
-Ensuring quality care; -Advocacy on state and federal issues that impact teaching hospitals; -Working with the city of Boston to protect the public health; and -Partnering with the business community to protect and enhance the region's economic strengthAmong the most active of COBTH's numerous committees is the Domestic Violence Council. Created in 1995 by COBTH member CEOs, the Domestic Violence Council addresses the issue of domestic violence by making various recommendations to COBTH member hospitals regarding raising awareness, enhancing collaborations with community agencies and improving the communication and partnerships among agencies.
By virtue of our advocacy role at Boston Medical Center, DVI clinicians are active members of the COBTH DV Council which meets monthly with various institutions such as the Boston Public Health Commission, the MA Department of Health and other community programs to cover the wide range of DV issues related to member hospital domestic violence programs.
